Alphabeat is a Danish pop band from Silkeborg signed to Copenhagen Records in Denmark. Their Danish debut single
Fascination was a major hit in Denmark during the summer of 2007. A second single 10000 Nights Of Thunder saw equal
success, just like their eponymous debut album that went platinum in Denmark. Their sound is mainly retro 80s melodic
pop, taking inspiration amongst others from Deacon Blue and Prefab Sprout, with distinctive overlay of male and female
harmonies. Their native success attracted the attention of several major labels from larger markets abroad, and
Alphabeat were eventually signed to EMI's Charisma Records label in the United Kingdom. Alphabeat's first British
single, Fascination, was released on March 3rd 2008, the song reached No.23 in the UK Singles Chart on download sales
alone, and on March 9th 2008, following its physical CD release, Fascination climbed to No.6.



This Is Alphabeat, is the debut album from the Danish band Alphabeat. Last year, Robyn went to No.1 and kicked open the
door for proper pop; for artists who write and perform their own songs, and eschew the talent-show fast-track to fame.
Danes Alphabeat may not have reached the top spot yet, but they were more than happy to reside in the top 10 for the
month of April with their single Fascination, a mutant version of David Bowie's Modern Love with more go than the
Go-Go's. They have plenty more like this: Boyfriend and 10,000 Nights may pack in the lyrical cliches, but are sung with
youthful zest and sincerity. There's even a feelgood version of PiLs Public Image that features whistling. It's pop for
blaring out when the sun has its hat firmly on, and, at only 10 tracks, remains a blast throughout.
